I am a huge fan of design that has a bit of personality. A creative approach to a simple problem or an innovative re-tooling of the "usual".
The work of 32 year old industrial designer Alexis Georgacopoulos epitomizes design that is both functional and amusing, with humour as the counterweight to technology. An object must induce sympathy,' he asserts, and it has to be said that his objects succeed in doing just that!
Take this for example....

How freakin' sweet is that!!! It gives me visions of me being on a floaty in the middle of an infinity pool eating aperitifs and taking sips of Veuve-Clicquot.

The Athens, Greece born designer developed this inflatable bottle holder/cooler the same year he was selected to head the prestigious Ecole Cantonale d'Art de Lausanne's (ECAL) industrial design department at the University of Art and Design in Lausanne, Switzerland. Yep, he's 32 and he's the HEAD of a world renowned design school (I just realized I'm a loser)
Make it an Outstanding Day!...I'm gonna go study the Dictionary...
